Market activity

Understand holdings, positions, P&L, and the activity behind an account's results.

FLIPgo shows activity from a creator's public accounts alongside their content. Use the account and time period shown in each view to understand what a number represents.

Holdings and account value

Holdings are the assets in the selected account. Their displayed value changes with market prices. Account value can also change because of deposits and withdrawals, so a rising balance does not by itself show trading profit.

For example, depositing $1,000 increases an account's value by $1,000 without producing a trading gain.

Positions and P&L

A position is an open trade. A long position benefits from a price increase; a short benefits from a price decrease. P&L means profit and loss.

  • Unrealized P&L is the current gain or loss on an open position. It changes as the market moves.
  • Realized P&L records gains or losses from closed trades. Check the view's treatment of fees and funding when comparing results.
  • Account or period P&L covers the account and time window shown. It can differ from the P&L of a single position.

An open trade showing +$200 has not necessarily closed with a $200 profit. Its result can change before the exit.

Orders, fills, and transfers

  • Order: an instruction to trade. It may be waiting, partly filled, or cancelled.
  • Fill: an executed portion of an order. One order can produce several fills.
  • Transfer: movement of an asset between accounts. A transfer to an exchange does not establish that the asset was sold.
  • Funding: periodic payments associated with supported perpetual positions.

Transaction history shows recorded activity over time. Use it to follow what happened before or after a position changed.

Margin and liquidation

Margin is collateral supporting a trading position. If it falls below the venue's maintenance requirement, the position can be liquidated. A margin tip adds funds to a supported trading account; it does not guarantee that a position stays open.

Compare the same account and time

Public views refresh at different times, and recordings refer to past broadcasts. Check the selected account, period, and update time when comparing a stream with a chart or ledger. Creator profiles show only the accounts made public.
